A personal request from Andy Haw :

On Saturday 25th June I am attempting the Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge - a 104 mile cycle race around Northumberland . Its a challenging course with around 8000 ft of accent ! My friend Nick Barrett & I have been training for this for a while - I should have known something was amiss when I was given a yellow cycling shirt and a book "Cycling for the over 50 's " for my big birthday at the end of last year !

My chosen charity to raise funds for this event is the Prostate Cancer Charity . If you’re a bloke and over 45 you really do need to be aware of the dangers of this disease. In the UK Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. 36,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. One man dies every hour of prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Charity is the UK’s leading charity working with people affected by prostate cancer.

As most of my friends fall into this at risk category can I ask that you take a look a their website and be aware of the warning signs. Please donate as much as you possibly can via my Justgiving link. Prostate Cancer funding is still very much the Cinderella of the cancer Charity donations world !

I have just brought in a huge amount of used MGB spares from a typical barn find / abandoned project. There are dozens of wire wheels , doors , wings . tailgates etc - various condition but all original panels ! The haul includes Weber carb conversion on manifold, front built up cross-member with telescopic damper conversion, wire wheel front axle, aluminum bonnets, overdrive gearboxes etc .

"O" SERIES IN MGB - IT CAN BE DONE !

Local MG enthusiast Mike Arnot [ organizer Durham Classic Car club ] has recently completed his long term project and fitted the O series engine from a SD1 Rover into his chrome bumper MGB. As Mike is keen to point out , this engine was designed to fit the MGB if manufacture had continued past 1980. The full details of this conversion can be found in the June edition of Enjoying MG magazine.

TSSC LOCAL TREASURE HUNT

"I confirm the details of the Treasure Hunt I'm doing for the local TSSC branch, for which you kindly donated the £20 gift voucher.

It will be held on Sunday April 25th and will be based around Morpeth.

The first car will be set off at 10:30am and the 'start' will be manned until the last car has been despatched.

There will be no charge to enter, but non-TSSC-member entrants are welcome to make a donation to branch funds, if they feel so inclined.

Here is a picture of Keith Edmunds [Wednesbury UK] Spitfire mk 4 now fitted with : 2lt Vauxhall engine ,2.8 Cosworth Gear Box ,GT6 Brake discs with twin pot caliper brakes.
Keith bought the car from me about 2 years ago and hopes to complete the bodywork side of the rebuild in 2010 .
